The best lip filler result is the one people can't quite name. Your lips look rested, hydrated and balanced with the rest of your face — not bigger for the sake of bigger. Here's how we plan for that.
Proportion first
Before we talk about syringes, we look at proportion: the balance between your upper and lower lip, the shape of your cupid's bow, the corners of your mouth and how your lips relate to your nose and chin. Small, well-placed changes in the right spots usually look more natural than adding volume everywhere.
Hydration or volume?
Not everyone who asks about lip filler wants more size. Many clients want their lips to look smoother and more hydrated, with softer lines around the mouth. That goal calls for a different product and technique than adding shape, and it's one of the first things we clarify at your consultation.
Half syringe or full syringe?
For a first treatment, many clients start conservatively. A half syringe can be a beautiful, subtle refresh, while a full syringe offers more flexibility for shape and support. At Essenza, lip filler starts at $450 for a half syringe and $550 for a full syringe.
You can always add a little more later. Starting soft is how natural results are built.
What to expect afterward
- Swelling: lips usually look fuller than the final result for the first day or two, and swelling can take up to about a week to fully settle.
- Bruising: possible, and usually temporary. Let us know beforehand about any medications or supplements you take — and never stop a prescribed medication without talking to your doctor.
- Your follow-up: lip filler includes a complimentary follow-up assessment at about two weeks, once swelling has resolved.
How long does lip filler last?
Lips are a very mobile area, so results commonly last several months to around a year, depending on the product and the person. Maintenance is usually lighter than the first treatment.

Questions we hear often
Will people notice I had lip filler?
Our aim is for people to notice you look refreshed, not that you had something done. Conservative planning and a two-week check-in help keep it natural.
Can lip filler be dissolved?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. At Essenza, a filler dissolving session is $300.
Should I start with a half syringe?
For many first-time clients, a half syringe is a great starting point. We'll recommend an amount based on your anatomy and goals.
