Microneedling and collagen, week by week.

Microneedling is one of our favorite treatments for skin texture, tone and overall quality — but it rewards patience. Because it works by encouraging your skin to make new collagen, the most meaningful changes happen in the weeks after your appointment, not in the mirror on the way out.

How microneedling works

During treatment, a device creates tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. Your skin responds with its natural repair process, which includes producing new collagen and elastin. Over time, that can help soften the look of fine lines, refine texture and improve the appearance of acne scarring.

Days 0–3: calm and protect

Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn, along with some tightness, for roughly one to three days. This is a normal part of healing. During this window we typically recommend gentle cleansing, a simple moisturizer, daily SPF and skipping makeup for the first day. Hold off on retinoids and exfoliating acids until we say it's time.

Week 1: smoother to the touch

Many clients notice their skin feels smoother within the first week. Some light flaking can happen — let it shed on its own rather than scrubbing.

Weeks 2–6: the glow phase

As your skin rebuilds, tone and radiance often look more even. This is also when we usually plan your next session, typically about four to six weeks later, so each treatment builds on the last.

Collagen is built slowly. Consistency — not intensity — is what creates lasting change.

Months 3–6: cumulative results

Collagen remodeling continues for months. That's why microneedling is most often planned as a series, commonly around three sessions, with maintenance afterward depending on your goals and your skin.

Is microneedling right for you?

Microneedling suits many skin types and concerns, but it isn't for everyone or every moment. Active breakouts or skin infections, certain medical conditions and some medications may mean waiting or choosing a different approach. Your consultation is where we look at your skin and history and decide together.

At Essenza, microneedling for the face starts at $200, and we can discuss pairing it with other treatments, like PRP or skin boosters, as part of a longer-term plan.

Questions we hear often

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

Many plans start with a series of around three sessions, about four to six weeks apart, but the right number depends on your skin and your goals.

Is there downtime after microneedling?

Most people have redness for one to three days. Many return to normal activities quickly, with gentle skincare and sun protection.

When will I see results?

Skin often looks brighter within a couple of weeks, while collagen-related changes build over several months.
